This Advent, we will preach from the Lectionary in Isaiah and the Psalms.
This Sunday, we will light the PEACE candle. Pastor Mark will preach on Isaiah 2:1-5 from our Advent theme, “Restore Us: Prophetic Hope from Isaiah”. Lance will lead us in musical worship. We will hear from the Serve Local team about ways to serve and give this Advent.
The Prophet Isaiah ministered during a time of political turmoil and moral decay, when both Israel and Judah were collapsing under the empire’s ruthless domination and their own internal corruption. Isaiah speaks of prophetic hope that a child will be born to save us and the government will be on his shoulders, establishing a kingdom with shalom, justice, and righteousness that will never end. May we remember and welcome God’s light of hope, peace, joy, and love to shine salvation and liberation upon us. Come, Lord Jesus, Come.
