Refugee Kits:

We have an active partnership with SOAR (Sponsors Organized to Assist Refugees) that has included our cottage ministry for temporary housing. Due to recent changes in the U.S. administration they have put out a plea saying

Our refugee families are in crisis… For at least the next three months, no new refugee families will be arriving. Those who had already been approved for resettlement are now trapped in limbo overseas, their hopes of safety and stability put on hold indefinitely. Meanwhile, the families we have already welcomed are struggling more than ever. Without additional funding, many are facing eviction, hunger, and a frightening level of instability.

During Lent we are inviting the congregation to help meet some of these urgent needs through:

  • Donating money (you can designate a gift through the church website, or designating checks or cash to "Refugee Support")

    • $150 secures an appointment for a family to furnish an ENTIRE apartment through Community Warehouse.

    • $2000 can cover rent and utilities for a month while a newly resettled family orients themselves culturally and looks for work.

  • Donating a re-start kit

    • Put together a kit of new items for kitchen, cleaning, or baby supplies. The items needed typically cost around $125 per kit

    • Lists of kits and explanation of the process will be in the fellowship hall after service or email Pastor Mark

Cottage Donations:

We are inviting you to participate by purchasing sheets, blankets, and pillows. These items will be used to make the beds in the cottage, and the families will take the bedding with them when they move out. This also helps our volunteers by eliminating the need to wash all the bedding between families. We have prepared an Amazon Wish List you can shop, or get ideas from. You are welcome to shop anywhere or to donate clean bedding that is in very good condition (no stains or wear) and labeled with the size. Donations can be dropped at the church. We need sheets, blankets (or comforters), and pillows to fit twin and queen size beds. We always need more twin sizes than queen.
